Tasha Turns Seven

Today my little girl turns 7 years old.  I keep telling my kids to stop getting older, but they don't seem to listen.  Yesterday she asked when I would have a blog post about her, well when better of a time than her birthday.

We went out to dinner last night to her favorite place, Perkins, surprisingly she didn't order pancakes, she got french toast (she was very proud of "trying something new" but I'm not sure it really counts).  Her all time favorite food in the whole wide world is Nutella, she'll put it on almost anything.  Every day for lunch she makes herself a peanut butter and nutella sandwich.

Yesterday I found this recipe on Mostly Food and Crafts and thought it sounded like a special breakfast treat.  When I got out the Nutella, it occurred to me that one little change would make this even more of a special treat for Tasha.

Behold, Nutella Peanut Butter Crescent Rolls
Here's what you need to make these delectable treats, currently referred to by my girls as "Yumminess"
A can of crescent rolls
Peanut Butter
Nutella
Powdered Sugar (optional)
Preheat your oven according to the package.  Unroll the dough and fill each with a dollop each of Nutella and Peanut Butter.  When rolling them up, pinch the ends down so that it keeps the filling in.  Bake according on a cookie sheet for about 12 minutes.  I sprinkled some powdered sugar on them to make them extra special; fancy looking.  Enjoy warm, they are heaven!

While those were in the oven I finished up the treats I found here by The Country Cook.  Again, I didn't follow her directions exactly (are you starting to see a pattern here?), but I can honestly say, I will never look at Oreos and cream cheese the same way again... more heaven!
Here is all you need to make these decadent bites:
A package of Oreos
An 8oz package of cream cheese, softened
Chocolate chips or melting chocolate
Decorations

The Country Cook used her food processor to do this.  I gave mine away a few months ago since it hadn't been used in at least 3 5 7 years.  I found I could pulverize the Oreos pretty well in my blender if I did them in small batches (5-6 cookies at a time).  For the cream cheese, I had left it out too soften but decided to kind of melt it to make it easier to mix into the cookie crumbs.  I microwaved it for 20-30 seconds at a time, stirring in between.  Mix the cookies and cheese together and roll into little balls.  I popped them in the fridge last night at this stage.  I used semi-sweet chocolate chips, I don't care for white or colored chocolate.  This morning I rolled them in melted chocolate chips and sprinkled some decorating sugar on top (it's purple so it doesn't show up well in the picture).  I popped them back into the fridge for a bit to harden up before putting them into mini cupcake wrappers.

I think next time I'll drizzle colored chocolate or use decorating candies that will show up better.  They'd make a beautiful gift that way!

My very happy birthday girl went off to school in her new outfit designed by her sister, made by me.  She enjoyed posing for pictures.

Her sister did her hair.  I've already hear she's been showing off her outfit at school.  I'm just hoping the rest of the Oreo bites last until after dinner... it is really hard to keep opening the fridge and seeing them.  They've already been moved out of O-man's reach...

Peace be with you,

You have some very cute models! And a happy birthday to the birthday girl.

Can I ask how you are doing your waistbands for the skirts? Is it t-shirt material and is there a secret to how to cut or measure it? The skirts you've made just look so simple... but very stylish and comfy.

Thanks!
