What I Finally Wore Wednesday

Well, after 2 full days in the hospital, my little man is completely back to normal... and already driving me up the wall! Good thing he was cleared to go back to school tomorrow.

I walked in the door, kicked off my shoes and headed straight to the shower and after 2 full days of pinterest, I knew exactly what outfit I was going to recreate:
So glad I made that skirt, it has really become a staple in my wardrobe and so comfortable!

Peace be with you,

WIWW Fedora Style

Kind of a late edition tonight but I'm determined to write this before going to bed.  You have probably seen the cute fedora hats they are showing around, and if not, you obviously aren't on pinterest enough!  I got one recently from Avon and I've been waiting for the right time to wear it.  Then I wore it to church one Sunday but took it off during the service.  Afterwards an older gentleman, a retired pastor, told me I should keep it on.  He said women used to always wear hats to church and it was acceptable for me to wear it during the service (yes, men are supposed to remove theirs) and he hoped I would continue to wear it and others, and maybe bring back Sunday Church hats to our community.  Later that day a friend told me the women still wear hats in her church and showed me an awesome hat she had worn that day.  I'm sold, I'm definitely going to be wearing more hats.

Here's my pinterest knock off that made me want to get a fedora, I wore this for Easter Sunday:
Here is another Sunday with the hat:
I'm pretty sure my mom didn't like that hat, but I only see her a few times a year and she doesn't check my blog very often, nor does she comment, so I'm going to pretend I didn't see the look she gave me when I put the hat on before church!

What do you think?  Anyone else into wearing hats?

Peace be with you,

WIWW - Pinspiration from What I Already Had

I've been lacking on my What I Wore Wednesday posts and I don't have a whole ton to show for it.  Refashions are currently underway on my existing wardrobe but they won't get finished until after spring break... I've got a big project in the works while I'm visiting my parents in Ohio, I promise to share!

First up are two outfits I originally pinned because I realized I could create something similar with what I already had in my closet without major alterations.  Excuse my not great pictures.
The day I wore this, it was chillier than I expected and since my blue t-shirt dress is sleeveless, the jacket was a must.  It's hard to tell but I do have a few brown bracelets and the necklace is actually quite colorful.
Again, not a great picture, but it's what I got.  Hard to tell, but the shoes are awesome RED patten leather with white stitching.  I only had a skinny red belt, so a chunky red belt is on my list to keep an eye out for next time I'm in the thrift stores.  Necklace is something I picked up in Germany a few years ago.

And a few more outfits that came together from my closet:

Yeah, I wear a lot of teal/aqua...

What I Wore Wednesday

The weather can't decide if it's going to be winter or spring around here.  I'd be happy if we could just pick one and stay with it for a few weeks!  I'm good with days that I can wear a sweater and no coat, 6 weeks of that would be perfect!

Time for the outfits.  What I learned from looking at these pictures:  I need some serious hair help!

Last Wednesday (I'm still in my jammies today!):
I love the boot and leg warmer look, plus it is so comfy.  IronFish brought the scarf back from his trip to India a few months ago.  The leg warmers are old sweater sleeves seen here.

Thursday: no picture, I was wearing paint clothes!
Friday, the green belt does go, some of the stripes in the sweater are green, it just doesn't show up in the picture!

Intermission:  in the middle of writing this, my computer crashed and it was time to take O-man to school... remember, I'm still in my jammies?  I don't have to get out of the car at pre-school, so I went as-is...but didn't think about it when I stopped for coffee... um, my mental conversation on my way back home was me defending myself to the "What Not to Wear" hosts... then I realized I wouldn't mind a FREE $5000 wardrobe and make-over... I might wear my jammies out of the house more often.
We now return to our regularly scheduled program...

Saturday, no picture, can't even remember what I wore...
Sunday we went to church.  I wasn't sure about the lace shirt under the sweater dress but I got compliments on it, so it must have worked.  Plus, I finally got gray boots!!!
Monday, notice the hair getting progressively worse in my pictures?  I couldn't even make it look decent in a pony-tail!  I'd forgotten about my ruffled shirt and I love it with this t-shirt cardi, super comfy and not half bad for a day at home... cleaning!
Tuesday, play-date and activities with the girls in the afternoon.  I wasn't in a very creative mood when getting dressed so a bright top under this sweater refashion.

I did get dressed today, but I have to finish up my project for next week's challenge on Project Recycle, so you'll have to wait until next week to see what I'm wearing today...  In the mean time, go over and vote for your favorite, you can vote once every 24 hours!!!!!
Project Recycled
And feel free to leave me comments with suggestions for what to do with my hair?!?!?!?  The color is 100% natural and I think I'll keep it that way, other than that, I'm game for almost anything!

Peace be with you,

WIWW - More "Pin-spiration"

I'm pretty pleased with myself, I actually dressed fairly well and took pictures most days this past week (except for the stomach virus days...).  Pinterest strikes again for inspiration in my outfits.
Thursday:
I had to make the hat and I'm wearing boots, but the rest I had.
Friday and Saturday... let's just forget Saturday, shall we?
Sunday:
for church, skirt still had the tag on it!
Monday:
The kids and I met IronFish for lunch since he worked and school was closed.  Bracelet was something I made a long time ago, I love purple almost as much as teal!
Tuesday:
I really wanted to stay in jammies, but I pushed myself and put on the shirt and jeans.  Then every time I went upstairs, I added something to the outfit until it was at least better and I did feel better by the end of the day!  The sweater I made last year, you can see it here.  Excuse the terrible picture, guess now I know I need to go with something other than gray under the gray sweater or I look bulky.
Wednesday:
Today, yea, my BFF (yes, I used that term) is coming today for our upcoming Girls Weekend, I'm sooooo excited, I'm actually going to go clean my house now!
I've always known it was true, but it really has helped me with the winter blues to dress up (well, more than jammies at least!) and add some accessories.  It helps that I'm totally into doing my makeup now that I don't have to wear glasses anymore!  What are you wearing?

Peace be with you,

Beat The Winter Blues - WIWW

I didn't do too well dressing nicely over the past week, but I have a valid excuse!!!  I can SEE!!!!  Friday I had laser eye surgery, so I was dressed in sweats, and again on Saturday since I was laying low for the day.  Then Monday, I planned on cleaning and organizing so i put sweats on... wouldn't you know, I didn't do anything productive that day, guess I should have dressed nicer, I would have felt more like doing something.

So, for this week's edition, I'm sporting sun glasses in doors, be glad I'm not showing off the goggles I have to wear to sleep!!!

Sunday for Church: Top Kohl's, Necklace Lia Sophia, Boots ?, Skirt and legwarmers ME!
Tuesday for play dates with O-Man, who needed to be in the picture...  Shirt and Sweater Target a few years ago, Jeggings Avon, Infinity scarf ME and you can barely see my shoes, they are my new favorite leopard print Crocs, super comfy!

Since I've proved to myself that I feel better on days that I dress better, I'll start doing better at looking nicer, except for days that I have to wear paint clothes!  I've been pinning outfits for inspiration...

Peace be with you,

What I Wore Wednesday

I'm trying to dress a little better than jeans and a t-shirt, or at least dress up my jeans and t-shirts with some accessories.  I've been so inspired by Lindsey over at the Pleated Poppy and the other ladies who dress so cute during the week.  So instead of just making myself something to wear, I'm going to try to dress better even if I'm just home with the boy for the day... plus, I've gotten re-addicted to What Not to Wear on TLC...

Here's what I wore Friday night for a post Christmas party.  At the last minute I decided to dress up a bit more than I probably normally would have, I was just in the mood.  So I pulled out my LBD from Loft and accessorized with multicolored pieces.
The scarf is mostly teal but has lots of colors on some of the strands.  I made it a few years ago out of about 10 different types of yarn, very textural.  I wrapped a really long necklace around my wrist a dozen times as a bracelet.
Here's what I wore to church on Sunday.  Check back tomorrow and I'll show you how I recreated it from a pinterest inspiration.
Yesterday (I haven't gotten dressed yet today), hanging out with a friend and crafting and then activities with the kids.
Shirt and jeans Kohls, cardi Avon, shoes Payless for $2.
Necklace Lia Sophia, flower pin is from a boutique in Gardner's Village from my trip to Utah.  Notice the purple glasses... while I love having different colored glasses to go with different outfits, I'd rather not have to wear them or contacts at all.  AND in just two short days, I won't have to anymore!!!!!!  So excited for Lasik surgery!!!!!

Peace be with you,
