Before I show off the photos, you have to know the back story. My parents recently moved into our family's summer home in Linwood Park. Linwood is an amazing place right on Lake Erie, the best place in
world!!!! Anyways, our house was built in the early 1900s and has evolved over time. Most recently, my parents had it winterized and an addition put on it in 2004, enabling it to fit our whole family, extended family and friends so we can enjoy Linwood together. At that time, we were still renting it out to others over the summer weeks. Because of this, the kitchen didn't quite need to be our dream kitchen. Well, fast forward to this fall when my parents listed their house, sold it and moved all within TEN DAYS!!!! Still amazing in this economy, but totally God guided as within a few weeks of my nephew's diagnosis, my parents were now closer and able to back up my sister and her husband, ultimately enabling him to be out of day care and recently healthier than he has been in his ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!
Tate aside, if you have ever moved, getting a kitchen organized isn't easy. There were times when I felt I needed training in pmp certification! Since the plan had always been to redo the kitchen when they moved up here, the project was underway almost immediately. Good news, I've confiscated my mom's camera so I can show you the pictures. Here is a picture as they were dismantling the old kitchen. The red counter tops were fun. The flooring was painted plywood:
Wood floors were put in on the whole first floor.
New white cabinets and appliances went into the kitchen. The bar counter top is still unfinished and new bar stools need to be ordered (these are from their old house).
This is where I came in. 500 miles and 30 square feet of tile in my trunk and a bit of hard work:
The "subway" tile has an aged crackle finish with hand cut edges so they aren't uniform.
The glass accent tiles are a few shades of blue and clear, some are frosted, some clear, some with a textured finish. Overall they have a great beach glass look to them.
Everything is finished now, the back side of the bar is all glass, and the kitchen is back to full use also! I think we'll try to take some nice pictures of it tomorrow, but cookies needed to be made!!!
If you've never tiled, it is totally worth learning how (I'd be happy to answer any questions, I love tiling!). With the grout in and the new "bead board" switch plates on, it really looks amazing!
I'm so loving it!!!!!
Peace be with you,
