What I Made to Wear Wednesday - Maxi Dress to Sun Dress

So, here is the finished dress from last week.  I know maxi dresses are in, but I just didn't like the way this one looked on me, I'm not sure why.  Maybe I just don't like maxi dresses on me.  Anyways, I found this baby at TJMaxx for $6.50 and I did wear it once before deciding I didn't like it.  Plus when I washed it some of the shirring at the top came out

I checked some of my favorite places for inspiration and decided to make it my own.  Here is the final result, what do you think?  Stashbusting and upcycling in one dress!

Here is a close up of the top ruffle.  The ruffle on the bottom matches.

I'm planning on wearing it to a party this weekend so hopefully I will have some better pictures of me in it.  If so, I promise to post them!
